GOKSHURA – TRIBULUS TERRESTRIS

Tribulus terrestris is a fruit-producing Mediterranean plant that’s covered with spines. It is also called puncture vine. It is used in Ayurvedic medicine to maintain efficient kidney and urinary functions and in reducing renal discomfort. It is effective in treating urinary tract disorders because it promotes the flow of urine and cools and soothes the membranes of the urinary tract. Land Caltrops has also been described as an aphrodisiac in Ayurveda.

PUNARNAVA – BOERHAAVIA DIFFUSA

Boerhaavia diffusa/Spreading Hog weed has been used in the Indian tribal community for centuries as a therapeutic herb. It has many ethno botanical uses. The leaves are eaten as a vegetable. The root juice is used to treat asthma, urinary disorders, leukorrhea, rheumatism and encephalitis. In addition, the plant has many antimicrobial properties. It lowers serum uric acid, which is helpful in treating urogenital disorders.

VARUNA – CRATAEVA NURVALA

Varuna is found throughout India, especially along the river banks. It possesses anti-inflammatory, diuretic, demulcent and tonic properties.

 

 

 

KULATTHA – DOLICHOS BIFLORUS

Horse gram, native to India, is commonly used for food and fodder in Asia. It is an excellent source of iron. In the research paper entitled ‘Management of Urolithiasis by an Indigenous Drug (Kulattha), the seeds are found to be effective in dissolving kidney stones.. The Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia of Indiarecommends the decoction of dry seeds in calculus and amenorrhea.

 

PATHAR PHOR – DIDYMOCARPUS PEDICELLATA

Didymocarpus pedicellata, is a small herb with a reduced stem, bearing two to three pairs of opposite, roundly ovate, glabrous, highly folded leaves that are three to six inches in diameter. The herb mostly grows in the subtropical Himalayas at altitudes of 2,500 to 5,500 meters. It is widely used in Ayurveda for the treatment of renal afflictions.
